Zero Waste

Zero Waste

Three years ago, we embarked on our Zero Waste journey, inspired by Bea Johnson’s book. It took us a full year to change our habits, to find replacements for disposable items, and to buy bulk products using our own containers. We are ~95% there!

We use truck loads of mulch delivered by local tree companies!

We cover the paths in the farm with burlap sacks from a coffee roaster.

We make our own compost from all yard waste.

Our chickens devour all the kitchen scraps, converting them into eggs!

We made a commitment to use only recyclable glass and metal for our products. The only plastic is sprayer/pump tops for some of the products. Please keep refilling and reusing these bottles to reduce your environmental impact.

All the labels are made from 100% recycled paper.

We take return bottles from local customers. But the bottles are adorable… so why not reuse them? Soak in water for 10 minutes, and the labels come right off.

We work with local zero waste stores who sell our products and we pick up packaging materials they save + we get packaging materials when we buy our bottles + our like-minded friends collect and give us packaging materials: long story short, we re-use packaging materials to ship our products to you. Some of these are plastic and some are paper.

If you do not want to receive ANY plastic packaging materials, please put a note at check out (where you are prompted to put a gift note) and we will make sure to only use re-used paper packaging materials to ship your goodies!
